Africa's Talking has served African developers for over a decade and knows the carriers. Woyra covers the same markets and adds the layers an aggregator does not: verification you pay for on success, email on the same key, and a router you can direct.
| What | Woyra | Africa's Talking |
|---|---|---|
| Verification | $0.01 per success, with email fallback | Build it yourself on SMS |
| Transactional email | $0.30 per 1,000 | Not a core product |
| Routing control | Strategy and cost cap per message | Fixed per route |
| Ethiopian data residency | Separate data plane | Not published |
| Billing | Prepaid in USD, hard spend cap | Prepaid |
Africa's Talking's figures are reference list prices from their public pricing; check them before you decide, and tell us if one is out of date.
One call starts a verification, one checks it, and the fee is charged on success. An aggregator gives you an SMS endpoint and leaves the rest to you.
Because Woyra owns the verification step, it knows which carrier delivered codes people actually entered, and routes accordingly. An aggregator only sees delivery receipts.
Email, SMS, verification and lookup, one error format, one idempotency mechanism. Fewer vendors to onboard, fewer keys to rotate.
Africa's Talking has USSD, airtime, mobile data and payments, and direct carrier relationships in more African countries than Woyra covers today. If you need USSD or airtime, you need them. Woyra's list of countries is on the coverage page, and it grows in the order the waitlist asks.
